Description

Kenny Civils & Plant Ltd were appointed main contractor and project supervisor for construction stage (PSCS) for Bellurgan Embankment Works.

Scope of the Project
Enhance the existing flood defence provided by the existing embankment at Bellurgan, Co. Louth by adding Armour stone and composite cellular confinement erosion protection systems to the embankment. It was also necessary to increase the height of the embankment above sea level, to prevent flooding.
 
The main elements of this contract included:
 
·         Construction of large impermeable embankments
·         Importation and deposition of fill to raise the existing embankment
·         Installation of anti-burrowing mesh.
·         Installation of cellular confinement system.
·         Installation of geotextiles.
·         Importation and deposition of Armourstone.
·         Importation and deposition of soil.
·         Landscaping.
·         New concrete outfall headwall.
·         Permenant Fencing.
·         Working in an environmentally sensitive location
